Cooking with the sun
In September the Clay House Project organized a solar cooking demonstration. The public quickly grasped that the oven uses only one-eighth of the firewood needed for cooking over an open fire. After about two hours the entire meal was ready. While people must get used to a longer cooking time than when using a wood fire, much less water is needed, a factor not to be underestimated in the desert environment of Namibia.
