The entire campus was a hive of activities. There were more than a dozen scientific events in the different areas of engineering and architecture. An interesting point is that the program extended throughout the entire week, including free hours to allow the participants to visit other events. CECAT specifically organized an event about disaster prevention that lasted three days, and had interesting presentations that provoked long and fruitful discussions. Outstanding were presentations about the system of studying and mapping the risks in the Municipality of Havana (Eng. Liván Hernández) and an analysis of the psychological preparation in disaster situations (Dr. Susana Vilar), making interesting comparisons between Cuban experiences and situations of earthquakes in Armena, Columbia and landslides in Venezuela

There were also pleasurable activities and commemorations. Students of the CUJAE (the technical university) and of the University of Havana (humanities) came together to the rhythms of music and partied on the campus. Two days previously 1,500 delegates gathered for an Event at the Convention Palace, and the "Seal of the CUJAE" was presented to 65 founders, among others were two close collaborators of EcoSouth, Dr. Nelson Navarro and Hugo Wainstok.

In another solemn act, the "Seal of the CUJAE" was presented to five international organizations and three persons considered as historic collaborators. The EcoSouth Network was among the distinguished organizations, as well as Grupo Sofonias, and its Dr. Kurt Rhyner.

Encounters with the Rector and various Deans, as well as directors of departments closed a most active week for the delegates of the network, where it was possible to appreciate the high and renewed interest of the CUJAE to closen relations with EcoSouth in various areas concerning the Habitat, including hydraulic systems and investigations. Certain changes in the near future will occur with the direct partner CECAT, there will be certain changes in the near future, as it director Dr. Jorge Acevedo will retire and continue as a consultant. We are convinced, however, that the new direction will work with dedication in the proposed goals. The team spirit and the good integration of all was able to be appreciated during a small party that was organized in order to present a certificate as founding member to Kurt Rhyner.
